Laura Whitmore to host The BRITs Are Coming!
We are delighted to announce that ITV and BRITs favourite Laura Whitmore will be joining the 2016 team to host ‘The BRITs Are Coming’ on 14 January.Filmed at ITV Studios, the show will feature exclusive live performances from some of the hottest UK music acts of the last 12 months – Last year’s Critics’ Choice nominees Years & Years, this year’s Critics’ Choice winner Jack Garratt and Jess Glynne, who scored 5 number 1s in 2015.
If that wasn’t enough, the show will also end months of speculation by revealing the nomination list for BRITs 2016. The nominees are decided by the BRITs Voting Academy, which this year had 1114 members ranging from people working in the media, at record labels, concert promoters and retailers, to NUS Entertainment Officers and for the first time ever, a competition winner.
Which British artists have done enough over the last 12 months to be nominated for a 2015 BRIT Award? Categories include British Breakthrough Act, British Group, British Male Solo Artist, British Female Solo Artist and the fan voted British Single and British Artist Video of the Year. The biggest award of the night will undoubtedy be the MasterCard British Album of the Year. International artists are also celebrated in International Group, International Female Solo Artist and International Male Solo Artist.
For the 18th year, MasterCard are sponsoring the BRITs.
Google Play Music have returned for the 2nd year as the official streaming and download partner for the BRITs 2016.
‘The BRITs Are Coming’ will be broadcast on ITV at 10.40pm on Thursday 14 January.
The BRIT Awards 2016 with MasterCard takes place Wednesday 24 February at The O2 and will be broadcast on ITV.
