BRITs 2016 International Male Solo Artist nominees

International Male Solo Artist nominations announced

Drake, Father John Misty, Justin Bieber, Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd will all be hoping to follow Pharrell Williams’ footsteps by winning the International Male Solo Artist BRIT on 24 February.

This is the second ever BRITs nomination for Bieber, who is also a confirmed performer for our huge night at London’s O2 Arena. In 2011, he won the International Breakthrough Act BRIT.

For Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd, this is his first BRIT nomination and follows the success of his No. 1 album, ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’. Indie rock multi-musician Father John Misty’s is another first-time nominee, following the 2015 release of his critically acclaimed album, ‘I Love You, Honeybear’.

It’s also a first for hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar, whose album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ has spent a massive 29 weeks in the album chart to date.

Canadian rapper Drake’s nomination for International Male Solo Artist follows a nomination in the same category in 2014. That year he lost out to Bruno Mars -  will he take home the trophy this year?

The BRIT Awards 2016 take place at London’s O2 Arena on 24 February and will be broadcast live on ITV at 8pm GMT. See all the nominations here.
