First 2017 Performers Announced!
We can’t contain our excitement any longer; we’re so thrilled to announce that this year’s ceremony will feature live performances from Little Mix, Emeli Sandé and The 1975 on Wednesday 22 February at The O2, London.
BRITs Chairman Jason Iley said: "Today we have confirmed three of the biggest artists to perform at the BRITs. They have not only sold millions of records but they are incredible live artists renowned for their memorable performances. We are incredibly excited to welcome them to the BRITs stage."
Little Mix have continued to go from strength to strength following their phenomenal performance last year, including selling over 300,000 tickets for what was the biggest arena tour of 2016. Their fourth studio album 'Glory Days' topped the charts in the UK and has stayed there for the past five weeks. It achieves the highest first week sales for a UK girl group since the Spice Girls in 1997 and the fastest-selling by any girl group in 15 years.
Emeli Sandé will return to the BRITs stage for the first time since winning two awards in 2013. Her debut album ‘Our Version of Events’, released in 2012, saw her dominate the 2013 BRIT Awards. That year she picked up not only the Award for British Female Solo Artist but also the evening’s centre piece - the much coveted Mastercard British Album of the Year. ‘Our Version of Events’ broke chart records and remains one of the biggest selling albums of this decade. Since then she has gone on to release her critically acclaimed second album ‘Long Live The Angels’ which achieved the biggest week one sales for a British female solo artist in 2016.
Emeli Sandé said: "So thrilled to be back at the BRITs this year. Can't wait to perform for you all!"
The 1975 will take to the BRITs stage for the first time, although they are no strangers to The O2, London, where they recently performed to a sell-out crowd. In the past five years, the four-piece have established themselves as an undeniable force. In 2016 the band followed their debut No. 1 album with the critically acclaimed second album, ‘i like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it’, which also topped the charts.
2017 BRIT nominations will be announced on Saturday 14 January, live on a primetime ITV Saturday evening slot. The show will feature special performances from Craig David, Christine and the Queens and Calum Scott as well as BRITs Critics’ Choice winner Rag’n’Bone Man. Alongside categories including ‘British Single’ and ‘British Group’, the contenders for the BRITs’ biggest award, the Mastercard British Album of the Year, will be revealed.
