One Direction win British Video at The BRIT Awards 2015
One Direction’s video for chart-topping single ‘You & I’ has taken home the British Video award at The BRIT Awards 2015.
Facing a battle over the last five weeks to make it into the final list, ‘You & I’ was up against 10 videos, all selected based on the number of YouTube views.
Nominees in the British Artist Video category included: Calvin Harris - Summer; Charli XCX - ‘Boom Clap’; Duke Dumont ft. Jax Jones - ‘I Got U’; Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud; Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars - ‘Uptown Funk’; Rita Ora - ‘I Will Never Let You Down’; Route 94 ft. Jess Glynne - ‘My Love’; Sam Smith - Stay With Me’; and Sigma - ‘Nobody To Love’.
‘You & I’ made it into the final five and won the award during a live vote on Twitter, which took place during the show.
Premiered in the April 2014, the video was shot on Clevedon Pier in Somerset and directed by long-time collaborator Ben Winston.
The video sees the band members morph into each other while walking along the pier.
One Direction were honoured with a brass plaque from the pier, commemorating their music video shoot.
To date, the video has achieved over 130,000,000 views on YouTube.
