Nominations for International Female Solo Artist
Lady Gaga is in search of her fourth BRIT – but first in four years – facing tough competition for International Female Solo Artist from Katy Perry, Janelle Monáe, Lorde and P!nk.In 2010 Gaga won three Awards, and after a successful return in 2013 with her worldwide hit record Artpop will be hoping to add to her collection.
But Katy Perry, who was disappointed to be nominated twice in 2011 and still fail to take home any BRIT Awards, will be hoping to make it her night and compliment what is set to be an extra special performance at The O2 Arena, London, on February 19.
P!nk is the nominee from this category with the longest standing BRITs history. In total she’s now been nominated eight times, but has only won once in 2003 – two years after she received her first nominations.
Meanwhile Janelle Monáe and Lorde have never been up for a BRIT and will be hoping to spoil the party. Both have caused the world to sit up and take notice of them over the past 12 months: Monáe with her infectious tracks and energetic live shows; and New Zealander Lorde, who is still just 17 years old, shocking everyone with the global success of her track Royals.
The BRIT Awards 2014 take place at London’s O2 Arena on February 19 and will be broadcast live on ITV at 8pm GMT. Click here for a list of all the nominees.
