Tom had only released one EP when he found out he was nominated for the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award, which overwhelmed him as he explained when we spoke to him at the time.

He was handed his Critics’ Choice Award by Emeli Sandé at the BRITs Nominations Party, and at the Awards themselves, he gave this moving rendition of Hold Me for the celebrities in the Backstage Bar.
Just as he was walking on stage to perform at Glastonbury Festival, Tom found out his debut album Long Way Down had gone straight to No. 1 in the UK Album Chart, inspiring this awesome performance.
Elton John received the first ever BRITs Icon award last year, and to honour this feat Tom covered Tiny Dancer at the legendary Roundhouse in Camden, London.
