Muse and War Child, Glastonbury & More in Music News
While the temperature may be fool you, the summer of music continues to heat up across the country. We're excited to hear this week's announcement for the 7th annual iTunes Festival, where Justin Timberlake, Jake Bugg, Primal Scream and Phoenix have been announced the first acts included in this year’s Festival taking place every night in September at London’s Roundhouse. Tickets are free for competition winners, but every performance can be enjoyed live via iTunes.
BRITs veterans including Blur, Muse, Coldplay and Mumford and Sons continue to put their support behind 2013 BRIT Awards Special Recognition winner War Child as the charity is in a bid to win a £500,000 grant to help protect children in the Congo. As part of the initiative to raise funds, the charity is auctioning Dom Howard’s drum skin, which was torn by Matt Bellamy’s guitar during the live streamed BRIT Awards pre-show to celebrate War Child’s 20th anniversary. You can support War Child and bid on the legendary equipment here.
As we head into June, new and simply amazing singles continue emerging from some of the country’s most exciting new talent: The two sibling producers who make up the rising production duo of Disclosure continue to drop new tracks in advance of their debut album “Settle” (Out June 3) to continuing critical acclaim, while pop sensation Katy B is back with a new video for her single “What Love is Made Of”. In a different genre, UK folk star Laura Marling debuted her latest album “Once I Was an Eagle", and it was an exciting week for Naughty Boy as his latest single “La La La” ft Sam Smith has already become the fastest-selling single of 2013 so far, knocking out Daft Punk's long reign at the top. Already, 2013 is shaping up to be one of the brightest years in music for quite a while!
Finally, June really only means one thing to an excited festival goer: It’s the month of the monumental Glastonbury Festival!
